Composite Restorations

Ever since Dr. Mirhadi and Dr. Tong took over the care of the patients in 2005, the office does not use amalgam alloy restorations. While amalgam is a good restorative material and many patients have had amalgam fillings in their mouth for many years, it can be prone to leakage and fracture which could lead to other dental complications.

With evidence-based dentistry application and with improvements in bonding, in composite materials function and form, and more options in esthetic shades, our office is very comfortable to place tooth colored composite resins when a filling is required.

There are many factors that can affect the success of a dental restoration - to name a few: multiple medications with their various side effects, dry mouth, a history of clenching and grinding, home care and effective hygiene, habits (including smoking) and if you are prone to gum disease (gingivitis) and periodontitis. In spite of these challenges we promise to evaluate these risks and promise that we will do our best to help you to sustain the longevity of your teeth.
